the company that cried "wolf!"

things are getting tight in the german crafting world: jack wolfskin has been sending out cease and desist letters to german crafters for using paw motives on kid's shirts and cushions and sold them at "dawanda" (kind of the european version of etsy).
i'm all for protecting your brand and understand that a company wants to protect their logo, but to sue a housewive that had so far sold ONE cushion for 5 euro to pay 20,000 euro? for a self-designed paw print based on her CAT?
come on.... which company will be the first to copyright arrows, hearts, polka dots or even geometrical forms like rectangels or triangels and sue everyone using those?

luckily a "david vs. goliath" sort of movement has developed and crafters all over germany are collecting money for the ones that have been sued without a warning
(see here for more).

the company will probably go for very expensive lawsuits in order to get the crafters to resignate, but it's worth a shot.
astrid designed ourselves this little confused canine fellow that we made buttons of today. we sell these at our shop now and will donate the earnings to the sued crafters.
