We don't use our camping van very often, so every once in awhile it's a good idea to drive it for a little bit just to keep things alive. We threw some food in a basket--a very Red Riding Hood looking basket that made me skip down the sidewalk to the car--and took off up the coast for a few miles. Really only about fifteen minutes up the road from home, to a wide flat beach that is usually terribly windy and bearable exclusively to expert wind surfers. Today there were only families at play in the sun. Absolutely no wind. We put our chairs out on the hard sandy cliff and had our picnic with the sounds and view of the surf as entertainment. It was a glorious two-week vacation in just a couple hours.
