Early signs of spring

Whilst out in the garden in the sunshine this morning I saw that my patio Clematis plant has started showing its leaf buds and early leaves for the first time this year.

Does this mean that spring is on its way, albeit quite a long way off.

I do hope the leaf buds aren't too premature as I seem to remember last year the plant did the same thing only to later have the leaves covered in snow.
