Being thankful....simple things.

There's nothing like a good cup of coffee. You rarely get brewed coffee in Bahrain. (The reason why I imported my coffee maker from the US, via my parents! Thank you mama!!) So, I drink Americanos wherever I go...and, I'm getting used to them. Most people serve instant coffee in their homes...since I seem to know a lot of Brits that are tea drinkers. SO, I'm also learning to like instant coffee too! It brings back great memories of being in Russia, where that's all we got at Lilias dining room table :) such good memories. You have to learn to appreciate lesser quality things...for they usually are attached to the best memories. I also had to drink instant coffee when our small group lived on less than $2/day for a week. it was the cheapest form of coffee I could get. And I remember I only got 1 cup a day...which I treasured. And....I remember being hungry living on $2/day. You should try it sometime...something you will never forget. Terence and I lived on $28 for the week. (Our boys ate normally, and it was hard to watch them eat right in front of me, when I was hungry!) terence and I both lost weight that week. It was hard, but I'm thankful for what it taught us. Most of the world lives on less than $2/day. Pretty impactful experience, and it was only for 7 days. Imagine your life living with not enough food. Just the mental game was hard enough, let alone the true feeling of being hungry. So, yes....I am loving my coffee today. I am reminded that when things aren't going like you hoped, you need to be thankful for the small things. So, today I am thankful for a simple cup of coffee.
