Something Ate The Cactus!

My neighbor Elaine says her torch cactus was eaten by some critter and it has been like this for a couple of years now. I just noticed it.

I can't imagine a bunny eating a cactus, so maybe it was a javalina? It would have to be something that gets low to the ground. Who knows, maybe it was a desperate jack rabbit!

Any other desert dwelling guesses? We're at a loss.

(The babies wouldn't have been there at the time. They are only about a year old.)
