A brief hour of sunshine

The day was mostly grey, but being in need of something de-stressing I thought I'd head for the Royal Botanic Gardens, a place I find very soothing.

I stopped for lunch at the Hope Gate restaurant and enjoyed a nice salade niçoise and this view.

It was interesting to walk around the park at a time of the year when there is not a single leaf on the trees. The way it is laid out finally became apparent to me. For example, the front door of Inverleith House (the modern art gallery) lines up exactly with the main large opening of the giant hedge on the north side of the garden. I had never perceived this before, as you can't really see it when the trees are in full leaf.

A very peaceful, restorative day.
