The distractions of the Playfair Library

I was at a fantastic talk by Prof Owen Edwards about Sherlock Holmes author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Discovered that Doyle was an early feminist, and had an alcoholic father.

Though the talk was riveting, you cannot sit in the Playfair Library without feasting your eyes on the amazing ceiling.
