Through the Runway

Out in the South Mainland to have a look at the sea as the Easterly Gales enter their 3rd (at least) day.

Didn't realise it as I was taking this that the digger at the far end had fallen through the runway at the easterly end and trapped the driver. Airport fire crew had to cut him free and he was taken to hospital and is hopefully ok.

In large you can see the ropes holding the digger in place, presumably until they decided how to move it and a full investigation takes place. It was there in the first place as work continues to strengthen the east end of the runway - proves it is needed. Fortunately Sumburgh has two runways so planes were not affected.
