Willows

At this time of year, if the weather is OK, the Netherlands water authorities start to manage the polders (dikes) which are in the main held together with willow roots.

In a rotation of I think 4 years the willows are cut right back. the cut off branches root very easily so sometimes are just stuck back in the ground to fill in any gaps.
