Mort
One of the more striking tombstones in St. Cuthbert's graveyard. The inscription is very worn but the parts still legible read 'Burying Samuel Gil... Rope Maker ...who died ...180... aged 63 years David Gillmo... ...Rope Maker... Died 12th Jan... Aged 65 years'. At the top of the stone are masonic symbols indicating the deceased were Freemasons. My paternal Grandfather was a Freemason, Lego-Nan poked fun at him about it and said he was 'off to play pixies' whenever he went to a meeting!
