Donations Box:

At the back of our church we always have a large box which we encourage the congregation to fill with non-perishable goods which the Salvation Army will distribute.

The original intention was to suggest that when you Buy One Get One Free you might care to donate the free one. I think, in practice, it looks more like we just buy something suitable anyway.

The box is always filled but it was a special joy at Christmas to see the huge amount donated.
