On reflection - black winged stilt
I have a cold, but I needed to get out of the house to I had a walk around the outside of the village.
As I got to the weir I noticed a gaggle of men with serious tripods and lens' bigger than my car (yes I was exaggerating, but they were HUGE - not quite as big as my scope but getting there).
As I stopped, armed (well footed) with my wellies I stepped half calf deep into the edge of this water to capture the only shot worthy of my walk.
I asked one of those running by (yes they were running to get the "best spot") what all the fuss was about.
Seems the twitchers had communicating as someone had spotted a "black winged stilt" - a rare bird for the UK.
I did not try and join in....
Two reasons
1) I am not really into birds
2) My equipment could not compare to theirs (damned if I was bringing the scope to the muddy wet field)
If you are a twitcher and are interested in the black winged stilt head for the area between Sandy and Blunham
