Sink Monster
Back home by 1.30 pm, I devoted the rest of the day to some quality r&r and spoiled myself with music, reading, napping and TV.
Coverage of the Brazilian Grand Prix began at 4.00 pm, with the race itself live from 5.00. Drama on the first lap saw the field reduced in numbers, which played into Jenson Button's hands since every retirement from in front of him on the track promoted him closer to a points finish from the disappointing 14th place he qualified in. Meanwhile, the introduction of a safety car destroyed what little advantage Rubens Barrichello was having at the front over Mark Webber. In fairness, Jenson pulled some spectacular overtaking moves out of the bag just when he needed them, while pit stops and a last-minute puncture rained severely on Rubens's parade. What earlier looked like a long-last victory for Rubens at his home circuit evaporated before our eyes, and Jenson's 5th-place finish comfortably got him the points he needed to clinch the Drivers Championship title, while Brawn also crossed the magic barrier and won the Constructors title. A great season for a team which only put together a rescue package at the last minute.
I'd let things slide a bit in the kitchen while the race unfolded, so had to tidy and wash up when the race ended. Fortunately I had some help from my resident Sink Monster. He was a bit shy about having his picture taken, but I managed to fool him and caught this blip while his back was turned.
