Semper Vigilo

They get such a lot of bad press, the police. On the whole, I think some of it is likely to be justified in the sense that like any large organization, they're not going to escape their share of rot.
But just as most people are not criminals, so most police officers are just trying to do a difficult job as well as they can - and in my personal experience, my firm view that they are there to look after my safety and that of anyone else who needs their help is entirely justified. Worth considering what life would be like without their protection before routinely referring to them by nasty nicknames.

Old-fashioned it may be - I have no idea how old it is - but I've always l liked this statue, and I happened to be in the vicinity today so I took a photo.
