Changes
About 17 years ago a shopping area, known as Cerritos Cornerstone, was built on the northeast corner of Artesia and Bloomfield in Cerritos. This is just north of the successful Cerritos Towne Center. With only one way in and out of the parking lot, it was not convenient to shop there.
When it first opened there was a Borders Book and Music Store at one end and the Hollywood Video (rental) at the other end. After a few years Borders moved to the Towne Center and eventually disappeared altogether.
Popularity of video rentals waned with Netflix and other options. So Hollywood Video also bit the dust. Even before the big recession, the store had been empty for a long time except during the fall when a Halloween costume store would use the space for a while.
Recently I saw a proposal to build 198 luxury condominiums to be called Via Piazzo.
Looks like the construction is beginning.
