La Petit Mort

One of those gorgeous sunny crisp days in Manchester today and strolling back from a meeting i passed this statue.

Its Archimedes in his eureka moment jumping out of the bath before running down the street naked. The title above refers to a description of this i heard which was "A beautiful sandstone sculpture but with the kind of expression we all dread to think we pull during La Petit Mort" ...

Dear god ... no wonder people often close their eyes at that moment.
