Happy birthday Thomas!

We awoke to rain pelting down this morning (what's new?), and after opening birthday cards and presents Thomas and I left for school. I had a real problem getting Thomas to school this morning - as I came around a corner on one of the narrow roads, it was so flooded that a car had got stuck in the water, and the car had been abandoned in the middle of the road. A school bus had tried to get around the car but couldn't and now the entire road was blocked. I considered trying to get through the puddle but it was very deep so decided it was safer to find an alternative route. Forty minutes later we arrived at school, after going through long traffic queues with everyone trying to do the same thing and road works coming into play! Not a good start to the morning, or to Thomas' birthday.

Later we had some beautiful sunshine and even a very spectacular sunset, but the water levels have risen right up again with flooding in the fields surrounding the river.

As soon as we got home, we had some tea and chocolate cake - as you can see, Thomas had not even taken his school uniform off yet! Now his favourite supper is cooking (spaghetti bolognaise...not very original) and he is doing his homework.
