Shortly before Richard Nixon was elected the first time, Valerie Solanos shot Andy Warhol three times in the chest on June 3, 1968. She was in one of his movies a long time before, and accused Andy of dubbing her voice over. Andy barely survived. In 1972, when Nixon ran for his second term, he created this image.
