Stelios Christou iconographer

As a talented and very modest man mr. Stelios Christou represents Cyprus this week at the annual holiday exibition in Holland
I found him behind his easel in the vast hall where he continued his painting as if he was in his workshop in Cyprus.
He told me that at the age of 6 yrs he did not only hold a pencil in his hand for writing but also a brush for painting icons. The holy icons mesmerized him from his initial years onwards and when 15 years of age he was accepted as a pupil of the iconographer Father Kallinikos at the monastery of Stavrovounis. The following 28 years he's learned all the secrets of the Byzantine Art from Father Kallinikos.
Mr. Stelios is a succesful iconographer who's works are found at the Archbishopric of Cyprus and many other churches in villages and monasteries on the island and at homes of Cypriotes and tourists abroad.
