The Run Off

Today seemed like the best day to celebrate my wife's birthday (which falls tomorrow). When I say celebrate, I mean as a couple, not that we won't go through all the motions again tomorrow.

After a short morning to get things in order around the home front, we headed out. With no real destination in sight we leisurely drove north along the river stopping whenever something caught our interest.

By mid-afternoon we found ourselves in Lambertville, NJ... with food on our minds. Fortunately we wandered into a wonderful place that wined and dined us royally.

Afterwards we decided to walk off our meal by visiting the town. After purchasing a few bottles of wine we came upon a canal that parallels the river.

Small as it was, there was this great energy both in sound and movement that drew us closer. The canal uses run offs like the one I shot to skim off debris and other such unwanted items. In fact the water itself was a dirty, dark, murky, muddy mixture. Yet coming over the fall it had a renewed freshness about it.

The negative, unwanted debris was anything but that as it flowed gracefully over the fall. A tough capture because of the poor angles available, I was glad to get what I could and move on.

Smile moment: catching a glimpse of my wife through the restaurant's window and still getting that warm feeling inside.

Recuperating tonight, tomorrow we'll continue the saga.

Pray on...
