Refreshed & inspired

Despite feeling completely wiped out & shattered, I made it to the Guernsey Sports Commission's Sporting Achievement Awards 2013 evening...
And oh my goodness, I'm so glad I did. What an inspiring event.

The local recipients of the 11 awards were fully deserving, including Tobyn Horton who won the highest accolade: Guernsey Sports Commission Trophy for Outstanding Performer of the year.

I loved the video that showed the positive effects that our children have had from the PE in schools programme and recognised the amazing work that Ollie & Kerri have put in over the years to lay the foundations, develop and evolve, for this incredibly successful and highly important initiative.

Then Baroness Sue Campbell gave an awe inspiring keynote speech that illustrated so well how important it is that we engage & inspire our children so that they can become physically literate before they leave school. She spoke of Mandela's inspirational life and the fact that even though he wasn't particularly sporty, he knew that sport unites... 'Builds bridges and breaks down barriers'.

She proclaimed that specialist PE teaching is the way forward in Primary Schools and inspired me to develop and improve my teaching style to further engage and inspire my pupils.

Think I might sleep well tonight:-)

Night Folks.
