What No Gorgonzola Special?
I didn't get the Victor annual as a kid but my cousin Johnny did and the Alf Tupper stories were my favourite.
Alf was an orphan and grew up to be a welder with a serious liking for fish and chips ("the best grub in the world") and a brilliant middle distance runner. He raced mainly against snobby types who would try to cheat but Alf was always a step ahead of people like that.
And despite all his success, he never let it go to his head. He was always down to earth and ready to help whoever needed his help.
My favourite story about Alf was one where he drilled holes in the frame of his bike to make it lighter - earning it the nickname "The Gorgonzola Special". Sadly, it's not in this book. I may have to try eBay.
Why am I wittering on about this? Because I've not done much today on account of my back. Which has gone again. Think this happens too much. Doctor and then visiting Kieser (a type of gym) may be the long term answer.
