Sue Foll's picture of the day

Trig and Del Boy

I just heard that Roger Lloyd Pack has died. Pancreatic cancer, very sad. I think I saw his North African Doppelganger this morning.

Something I try to do every day is make a detour to somewhere new or a place I haven't been to for a while.

After an appointment on Harrow Road I walked over the Half Penny Steps and down to Meanwhile Gardens. Stretching along the Regent's Canal, it is a proper urban garden with it's own inner city solutions.

Turning the corner on Kensal Road you see the imposing Trellic Tower. A local landmark and listed building, locals either love it or hate it. Ian Fleming hated it so much that he names one of his Bond villains after its architect Erno Goldfinger.

Crossing the rail bridge and into Golborne Road, the vibe is a mixture of North African and Notting Hill shabby chic, two cultures that don't always sit happily together.

So ends today's cultural detour and the number 52 bus route home.
