The 3 padlocks on this local shop are obviously a deterrent to anyone wishing to gate crash this emporium of clutter. The entrance behind the padlocks does not invite the casual foray into the interior, being a trap for all kinds of detritus. Inside, the shop is heaving with all manner of clutter from 2nd hand bikes and rugs to everything in between. I concede that what I perceive as clutter may well be the next person's find of the century, but inviting it isn't.
To celebrate the fact that his Lordship's mancold has disappeared and my vile virus has abated, we donned cycling gear and joined a throng of Sunday CTC members on a ride round the marches of Edinburgh, finishing up at Tiso's in Leith for refreshment. As you may know, to get from Leith to the rarified suburbs of the Grange involves a certain amount of hill climbing, but we took a picturesque route home through Holyrood Park which allowed us to witness an odd running event whereby the entrants were faced with some challenges including crawling under a net draped with the Union Jack. I should have asked someone what was going on, but I was in full out of the saddle climbing mode and couldn't face stopping and having a hill start. It certainly made for a more challenging run for the entrants!
