A picture postcard
Yesterday my blip was of the sixties eyesore, St Nicholas House.
Today it is of a picture postcard of what it looked like before they built the abomination. This was just after they demolished a lot of the old tenements of Guest Row etc.
The old building in the foreground, dating from 1545, is Provost Skene's House. In the background is Marischal College, once part of the university and now the council offices.
The right hand side spire is actually Greyfriars Church, now lying empty. I believe it will be turned into offices.
The council want to destroy this splendid view and civic square , by building something, probably more offices, here when the demolition is complete.
