Chook

One last...

Last full day in Kilifi. Rained just as much as yesterday. Few last minute tasks including going by our old house to have a stickybeak. After only two decent days of rain the streets are already displaying impressive puddles. Our tuk tuk got bogged, needing two guys to help the driver lift it out of the mud.

Had one last samosa and passion juice at Baroness, then spent the rest of the day at the orphanage. Made cards, listened to the kids' stories and songs, and then it was time for balloons. I blew up most of them and tied them all, only to find that the kids were more interested in watching the balloons hiss and fly as the air left them and, without fail, wanted me to untie the balloon. An early dinner with the kids, the teachers and cooks teasing us that they were serving up goat's intestine for us, just to see the looks on our faces. Certainly, our view of this 'delicacy' is different to theirs - one of the teachers told me that she loves it 'more than meat itself'. Indeed.

Said goodbyes there and headed off for one last (and second for the day) dinner at Members, sitting on the fence watching the sunset over the creek while waiting for our meals.

I'll be back.

Today's photo is of a guardian of one of the kids - his nanna in this case.
