Ice Feathers

These are ice crystals on the roof of our car, at about 8:30 this morning. The temperature was around freezing, but it had obviously been lower during the night. The rising sun melted these a bit more than a half hour later. It's more dramatic viewed large.

After all the ice we had experienced on the driveway behind our house, we'd kept the car on our lower driveway--and thus I saw the crystals soon after getting up. Lucky me!
