Four Daisies

Driving way down south between appointments I suddenly passed these mega big copper structures - and despite the rain - just had to stop to shoot it.

Once back home tonight I did my research what the thought behind these art objects is.

Here's what I found.

In 1999 the city council in honor of the new millennium decided to make available an amount for an art project. Paul Veroude entered "Four Daisies" and became the winning design. The four flowers symbolize the union of the four communities: Gilze,Rijen, Molenschot and Hulten.

ps. look at the car in the background and you'll notice these objects are at least 10 meters / 30 feet high. There are two B&W on Flickr too

Wonder if the name 'four daisies' was inspired by a drink called 'four roses' ;-))
