Extreme Pruning

The race is on to get the hedges "pruned" by the end of next month. Quite amazing how many books concentrate on Pruning and along comes a tractor and machinery and voila it's done. At this point I would like to make the comparison between pruning and butchery, no regard for nodes or making sure the plant is cut in such a manner that the water runs away etc etc. Having said that they hedges seem to survive after sorts. It is upsetting to see how they branches are ripped apart though.
Oh did I mention how the traffic gets held up as well? That's what I forgot to do for many months after moving here, to remember to factor in the tractor, when making a journey.
