Elis!
This is not my normal type of shot, but there is a story!
I had the choice of a couple of photos which I took this morning taking Meg for a walk before her follow up visit to the Vets. All went well at the Vets and she is on another two weeks of antibiotics and twice a day washes of her lump.
Anyway back to the photo!
I am a very fortunate Father, or should I say that I made sure I was fortunate. I brag to my friends that one of my greatest pleasures as a businessman is being able to have breakfast and dinner with my Daughter almost every day. This is something few busy parents have the opportunity to experience. But having not seen enough of my first three Children I took the decision that it was not going to happen again.
All through Eleanor's primary school which is next door to our house, we took Meg for a walk before breakfast and would hold hands most of the way round our cross country route. It was a magical experience. Sometimes Claire would get up and surprise us mid week with a cooked breakfast. Or we would test beans and sausages on toast to find our favourite brand.
During the rain and winter months we would walk down this track and splash in the puddles with glee. We took to finding the deepest puddle and had great pleasure in not only finding it, but wading through it on those wettest of days.
This is that very puddle which is still, all these years later, still the deepest puddle. We decided to give it a name and called it Elis after Eleanor and Chris.
Eleanor has little time now at 16 years of age before school but we do occasionally get the chance to walk at the weekends.
My heart gives a little flutter every time I walk this track with Meg and I always make sure I walk through the middle of Elis.
So there you are, a strange photo with a story that makes me a happy Daddy!
