Environmental social work

Indigenous worldviews:

'....It is argued that the distinctiveness of Aboriginal worldviews and traditions included their historical development 'involving a symbiotic relationship to the earth and a belief in the delicate balance among all things'.
They suggested this intimate and respectful relationship had resulted in a spiritual consciousness based on survival needs and a belief of people's responsibility to live in harmony with the Earth's resources........
Such indigenous worldviews are in tension with capitalist agendas based on exploiting the Earth, and dominant science perspectives implying human control over nature, because they cultivate harmony between humans and all living things, and see the entire world as interrelated, thriving and unstable.
If social work wishes to continue to cite social justice, human well-being and empowerment as central principles......the preservation of the natural environment must become of primary importance.'

WOW!!!
