on the prowl. a huge neighbourhood just a short walk away from my place is being redeveloped. what was once an eclectic mix of small shops and restaurants, old houses and small apartment buildings perched on the side of a hill, all connected with a labyrinthine network of paths and stairways, must now be destroyed to make way for gleaming new towers that the people living here before won't be able to afford. this shot was taken here too. if it continues like this, all the vibrancy, character and unrefined chaos that makes seoul such a wonderfully rich and stimulating place will be replaced by soul-less glass, concrete and steel tributes to economic success. i guess this is "progress".
