Love You

There is a steep set of wooden stairs that descends from the walking path on Westcliff Drive to the beach below. It's used mostly by surfers who carry their boards down to the popular expert's spot close to the lighthouse. The area at the top of the stairs has evolved into a memorial for surfers who have passed away; there are numerous hand-carved wooden signs: I Love You, Bless You, The Ocean is My Home. There are often jars of colorful flowers, toys, food and other memorabilia. Today there was just this watchful bird.
