Eighteen Shirts

Over the last few days I have been cutting up shirts. Today I have finally finished. I now have 252 six and half inch squares, 18 large rectangles and about 1200 inches of two and half inch strips. (Oh and 18 collars and 36 cuffs!)

Tomorrow I will start to make the quilt. I think it will be an emotional one. The shirts belonged to my friend's husband, who died last summer. I will eventually be making three quilts, one for my friend and one for each of her two young sons. I feel so honoured to be making this. I hope I can do him proud.
