Unbidden

View coming out of low cloud off Shap summit towards Kendal from the A6 this morning.
'Unbidden' was a word that came out during the day and stuck in my mind and resonated - I felt the image and the word went well together.

A fragmentary image
Hooded and cut off.

Eyes speak silently
Knowing that this is it. Yes,
You are unbidden.

But impossible
To turn away you persist.
Comfort in horror.

An abiding force
Emotional catapault
Linking life and death.
