The man-made mere on the southern outskirts of Scarborough is attractive in most weather but especially so when it's like it's been today. I was with Nick Richardson, who spotted the elusive firecrest sought by the disappointed birdspotters we encountered at the cafe end of the lake. A tiny bundle of fluff sporting a fiery crest, it was bobbing about in some bushes close to the other end of the mere, where I took this pic.
