Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Still more crashings!

I had rung the boiler folk (who haven't rung back with a date yet), rung Virgin Media to subscribe to Netflix (how will I be able to stay awake for Breaking Bad and the rest), rung a man about a shelf and rung the man coming to check the new hole in the wall - all by 10am.

I then went into town to let the Travel Agent know that the tour they sent us on in Africa was great. They need to have feedback like this, as they were able to tell me they’d had good feedback already.

It was such a lovely day - I love this weather. We certainly timed it right with our holiday, missing all the bad stuff.

I’ve always meant to blip this view, but something else always pops up. Today it stays. Deacon Brodie was a bit of a character - pillar of the community by day, and thief by night. RL Stevenson was inspired to write ‘The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’.

Walked back over the Meadows and rewarded myself with a rhubarb tart. I’ve been doing wee chores since.

Hanging curtains.
Wrongly.

Sorting out bookshelves.
Disastrously.

There are rather nice shelves in the spare room which were left here. Sturdy looking ones, too. So I started putting books on them, as you do. Then I started putting cook books on them. I had them all arranged nicely in order of size and wandered off into the kitchen...

When… yes! The whole shelf fell down with CRASH BANG WALLOP! Luckily nothing landed on my computer. Huh! And a man put them up, too. Didn’t use long enough screws, methinks.

The shelf man has just popped in to look at the job. We need a shelf in the corner of the kitchen to display the jugs. A special shelf.

I am going to ignore this half hanging off shelf for a while. I will have a cup of coffee. Maybe it will go away.
