Dutch tales

On our way home

Saturday evening it was time for another film to see. This time The Hobbit, with my brother. A nice film, though they made up a lot of extras compared to the book...

Little story.
I read The Lord of the Rings four times. My hero is the elf Glorfindel, who comes to the rescue when Frodo and his company are attacked for the first time by the Nine Riders. However small his part, Glorfindel is my favourite character. Don't ask why.
A film was made and I was thìs close to finally meet my hero on screen! But what did the film-makers do? They replaced Glorfindel by a female elf... Grrrrr!

Apparently there's too little love in the books and they have to make up for it in the films... Reading the books I already noticed the absence of women, to my dismay. Though Galadriel and Arwen are important and wise, they are not heroic. The only heroin is the Lady Eowyn of Rohan. But I would never have changed the storyline as much as they did, just to add some female characters.
