Sierra Leone..

This is a detail from a picture I bought in an auction to support a school I visited in Sierra Leone.
I love this picture... the artist has imposed photographic images onto the male and female figures that form the outline.
Visiting St Joseph's school in Makeni was one of those visits that you realise that you can't walk away from. You need to do something. The children were lovely, and gave us such a warm welcome. They put on a wonderful show for us and welcomed us in every classroom.
It is a school for hearing impaired children, and most were profoundly deaf. The school gave them not only an education but also skills that would be useful in the future... catering, carpentry, tailoring etc...
If anyone out there has particular skills in dealing with hearing impairment and thinks they could help the school please do get in touch with me...
