Reflection
I've never been a big fan of London. I contemplated going to uni in London, but decided the jump from rural Suffolk with its hourly bus service, to central London would be too big a leap at 18 (I think that was a very good call). And as much as I have enjoyed weekends with friends in London I've never explored that far beyond the bounds of Covent Garden/Soho/Leicester Square - we always seemed to get as far as lunch and a bottle of wine (Haze, Liz, if you are reading this, I blame you ;-).
So today Jen and I wandered from Tower Bridge to Brick Lane and Spitalfields Markets (oh if I had more money, not as much as yesterday, a more reasonable amount more, I would have spent some today!). And it was great.
We then headed for lunch in Shoreditch - the dishoom, a Bombay Café. And it was immense, great value and very tasty.
Before walking back to Liverpool Street, to get the underground back around to Kings Cross. Liverpool Street was my old entry point to London and I had a strange urge to head to East Anglia as we walked in. I also realised that I am not sure I've ever left or returned to Liverpool Street on foot before - all those sights that I had missed out on.
The picture is the mosque on Brick Lane. You can see that we were lucky with our weather this weekend.
