Faucet.

12 January 2010 – The Haiti earthquake occurs killing an estimated 316,000 and destroying the majority of the capital Port-au-Prince.
- Remaining days: 553

We use it every day of our life and its reserve is dramatically shrinking. We know we all use more water than we need, and certainly more than we should be using. And we know that a global water crisis is upon us.

Taking a picture of a faucet may seem an odd thing to do but hang on for a second. If you think about it, you just pull and get streaming drinking water. If you like it hot you just sway it gently and juggle to the other side and get hot streaming drinking water - doesn't matter what time of the day nor where you live. Isn't that just magnificent?

Ow, or isn't it? No, not everyone of us has access to streaming drink water. Globally, diarrhoea is the leading cause of illness and the nr. 1 cause of child mortality in the world.
I'm sure you've thought about or been confronted with the idea but sometimes we just don't take account or don't pay attention to such matter as it is has become self-evident for us. I do make myself guilty of forgetting how lucky we are to have such a luxury.
Don't get me wrong, you don't need to be crying or feeling bad all day long for the injustice in the world. No, just try and do something about it in all the ways that you can - your water bill will like it too. Your individual actions do make a difference!

I myself try to contribute little things like for example rinsing my razor in the sink, taking shorter showers, turning off the water when brushing my teeth, keeping a bottle of drinking water in the fridge,...

"In 2010, 89 % of the world’s population, or 6.1 billion people, used improved drinking water sources, 92 % are expected to have access in 2015. Hopefully by 2015, 67 % will have access to improved sanitation facilities." (Source: WHO)

There is still hope you see. If you haven't already, look for a charity which supports durable water supply and spread, donate or volunteer.
