Confused rose

I think that this Rose has moved beyond rambling to the confused stage! I noticed that our little stick of a climber had a few buds throughout November and December , but when I looked out yesterday one of the buds was open!

It's lovely to see the burst of yellow life amidst the twiggy-ness, though. Also , the birds have found the bird feeder and the level of seed is definitely decreasing. Yay!

It's gray and rainy here today. I may be obliged to start marking my pupils' coursework. Wick. On the other hand, I have reached a really tense and exciting part of 'Dominion' ..... the sofa may be calling.
