Molly

We were invited to Whittlesea near Peterborough today, during the annual 'Straw Bear' festival. Basically this seems to involve an amount of beer-drinking plus various forms of traditional dance. A variation of Morris dancing called 'Molly' dancing is always on show (a Molly dancer is pictured) - because Molly dancing is associated with ploughing and the Straw Bear festival is also associated with Ploughmen. Oh, and there is also a 'Straw Bear' (someone dressed up in a suit made of straw).

Anyway, if you want to watch lots of dancing and people dressed extravagantly plus hear traditional music, then head over to Whittlesea next January.
