Wayland's Smithy
Saturday is Archaeology Day...or so it's fast becoming. Today I headed off to Wayland's Smithy, a Neolithic chambered long barrow on The Ridgeway in Oxfordshire. If of interest, you can read about it in my blog HERE.
It was a beautiful, sunny day and perfect for spending outdoors. This was clearly what everyone else thought too because there were loads of people around getting fresh air and exercise: ramblers, dog walkers, cyclists, joggers, paragliders...
I also took in Uffington Castle (Iron Age hill fort) and the Uffington White Horse (Bronze Age chalk horse) so lots of prehistory covered. All in all a very enjoyable day out.
