Iris reticulata

As mentioned yesterday, purple shades are more common although this one is at the red end of the range! In flower only a day or two earlier than 2013.

I blipped it 364 days ago but the sun was not shining that day. This is what I said about it then:
I raised this form from seed collected in 1997 in Central Asia, distributed through the Scottish Rock Garden Club seed exchange. It comes under the umbrella of Iris reticulata, but might be called Iris kopetdaghensis by some, as this rich red-purple flower fits the description of that plant from the Kopet Dag mountains in Turkmenistan.
