Water Sound
Not the most imaginatively- named stretch of water around Orkney. It lies between Burray and South Ronaldsay and is now crossed by Churchill Barrier # 4.
There were frequent wintry showers coming through on a strong wind from the west.
I spent a couple of hours on the rocky shore and beach. Birds included golden plover, lapwing, turnstone, purple sandpiper, ringed plover, long-tailed and eider duck. A beautiful male hen harrier floated across the water at one point.
The ship in the distance is French, the 'Ile d'Aix' which is a cable layer.
