It's not exactly the Derry & Toms Building!

This was built as the Bord Gais headquarters in the early 80's, before being taken by Esat/BT in the late 90's until their own HQ was built down the road. As you can see, the window cleaning and maintenance hasn't been the most important issue while the building's vacant...

It's also a famous learning point for architectural professional practice exams... It was one of the first curtain wall buildings, back in the days when the systems were almost custom built for each job, and within 10 years the water was streaming in. The contractors who installed the glazing were gone; the company who manufactured the system were gone; but someone found a note from the architect (Sam Stephenson) saying he'd looked over the drawings and it all seemed in order, so they went for him.

That quick note was deemed enough to have him pay for a complete re-cladding, even though the contracts placed all responsibility for the design and performance of the system on the manufacturer!

So be careful what you sign...
