Miami Adventure :)

Went down to Miami with Crystal and her son Riley.
We were hoping to see an Alice in Wonderland play but it wasn't starting until next week.
Instead we decided to go see Firebird down in Miami.

On the way we stopped at a couple of comic book stores and saw an art show at one of them showcasing art from local tattoo artists.

Since we got down to Miami early in the day and the ballet didn't start until 7 we decided to explore a bit.

Started walking and came across a historic house called the Barnacle House.
As we walked up to it there was a tour just starting so we decided to join.
It was really interesting and the house itself was beautiful.

In the bottom right picture you see a view of the house from the rear.
The photo to the left of that is a view from the front porch, overlooking a long lawn with a view of Biscayne Bay.
The Photo on the top right shows a view from inside the house. This was taken from the bottom of the stairs looking up to the large "skylight" which can be opened. This was opened to let in fresh air and keep the house cool. It is also opened during hurricanes. Allowing the wind to leave through this opening keeps the roof from blowing off in a storm. You can also see some of the railings which were originally ship's railings as most of the house was built from salvage materials.

After leaving the house we continued walking. We decided to try to find cemetery in the area. This is the shot at the top. After looking for a link to it online for blip I found out that some people think the music video for Thriller was filmed there but it hasn't been confirmed....had no idea of that previously.

After the cemetery we walked back to our starting position and ran across an organic farmers market where we had lunch before leaving to go to the ballet.

All together we figured we walked at least 2 miles. Riley was such a trooper and so well behaved, hard to believe he is only 3.

An exciting day all around. And I am convinced it is partially because I was so sure I wouldn't need my camera when I left the house, since I had no idea what was in store before I left the house. Highly unlike myself...had to make do with the phone. I guess that will teach me.
