Galley Head Burning
Another fine day and beautiful sunrise and great light throughout the day with a few showers in the evening.
A moderate day at work for the time of year and noticing a few tourists about again after the festive. We had a bunch of journalists in the museum today for a tour, not sure what they are reporting but hopefully all good and promote Shetland well :)
The start of the Up Helly Aa season has started tonight with the Scalloway Fire Festival. All day Vikings go around the village of Scalloway visiting various places and then at night with a torch fire procession and guizers and the galley gets to burn at the end of it. The rest of the night is spent with comical acts, dancing and a few too many drinks :) This is the galley head burning.
