DRINK

So what's your tipple - a soft drink, an iced coffee, a shandy or just some water?

The sun was shining this morning so we decided to walk up through Boscombe Gardens to Little Pickle Deli Cafe, our favourite little cafe in Boscombe, where the staff and owner, Andrew, are always so welcoming.

So here is a collage made from photographs taken at Little Pickle, for DDW's January Challenge for the word DRINK.

We are fortunate in the UK that we can drink the tap water but in other countries of the world, they are not so fortunate.

We need two litres of fluid intake per day as the body eliminates this quantity of fluid every day through the skin, lungs, bladder and intestines. As water is the body's most important component it cannot go without it for more than about three days.

Some interesting facts from Wateraid:

1. 768 million people in the world do not have access to safe water. This is roughly one in ten of the world's population.

2. Around 700,000 children die every year from diarrhoea caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation - that's almost 2,000 children a day.

3. Every year, around 60 million children are born into homes without access to sanitation.

4. Half the hospital beds in developing countries are filled with people suffering from diseases caused by poor water, sanitation and hygiene.
